Okay, if you are one to get scared by a long list of ingredients, I beg you not to turn away from this recipe.

Yes, at first glance this looks like it has a lot of ingredients, but in reality when grouped, it’s only 4 ingredients. The trade off? Massive amounts of flavor for a quick and easy sloppy joe. Stick with me and you’ll want to make this recipe over and over again!

If you desire, bake your own sweet potatoes for more of that sandwich like sloppy joe feel, or throw it in between buns to make it a regular sloppy joe. The carbohydrate quantity comes from the amount of either sweet potatoes or buns that you use. Play with the servings and adjust the macronutrients to fit your lifestyle!

As well, note that 4 ounces of Trifecta beef will be too much for one bun - you can always divide the sloppy joe guts into two buns or simply plate the excess in the plate, like the image below. Have fun with it!

This gluten-free, paleo-friendly sloppy joe was designed to have tons of flavor but also be very convenient for a busy schedule. Make a big batch and refrigerate it to eat it as part of your meal prep, or make it for your family for a stress-free fun dinner.


  • 16 ounces or 4 Trifecta beef patties, crumbled
  • 1.5 cups Trifecta sweet potato mash
  • 1.5 cups Trifecta broccoli or favorite Trifecta veg
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil, like avocado
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 6 ounces tomato sauce, canned
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon mustard, yellow
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup of water


  1. Microwave the Trifecta beef patties covered completely by a damp paper cloth towel, for a minute and a half. Remove from microwave and after the patties are slightly cooled down, crumble the patties to its original form - ground beef - with your hands into a separate bowl. Keep warm.
  2. Similarly, reheat Trifecta’s sweet potato mash in a bowl or inside the tray for 2 minutes. Remove from microwave, taste, and if still cold, reheat for an additional 30-45 seconds. Keep warm.
  3. In a sauce-pan, heat-up the oil over medium heat. Once the oil is slightly smoking and shimmering, add fresh minced garlic, mix and add garlic and onion powder. Mix for a few seconds. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire and water. Mix to combine and bring to a light boil. Add crumbled patties and fully mix to incorporate. Heat up for 3-5 minutes until heated through. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  4. Meanwhile, reheat your favorite Trifecta veg for 2 minutes.
  5. Plate ½ cup of Trifecta’s sweet potato mash in the bottom side of your plate, along with 4-5 ounces of the sloppy joe. This will get sloppy! Plate ½ cup of your Trifecta veg on each plate and have yourself one absolutely lovely day.
