We are looking for an Android Software Engineer to work on our mobile team. As the Android  Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of applications aimed at a range of Android devices including mobile phones and tablet computers. Your primary focus will be the development of Android applications and their integration with back-end services. You will be working alongside other engineers working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products are essential. We need someone who can hit the ground running with Android development and does not require training except for learning the business and product.

  • Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform in Java and Kotlin
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
  • Work on bug fixing and improving application performance
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
  • Develop application programming interfaces (APIs) to support mobile functionality
  • Remain up to date with the terminology, concepts and best practices for coding mobile apps
  • Work closely with colleagues to constantly innovate app functionality and design
  • Write unit and UI tests to identify malfunctions
  • All other duties as assigned


  • 3+ years of demonstrable experience in Android app development
  • Ability to work in our beautiful new office in Sacramento, CA
  • Demonstrable portfolio of released applications on the Google Play Store/ Android Market 
  • Experience with Kotlin, Java, and the  Android SDK
  • Deep familiarity with MVVM pattern and dependency injection
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
  • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
  • Nice to have:  experience with Fastlanes, React Native, Parse Platform, or Firebase
  • Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle
  • Familiarity with OOP design principles
  • Superior analytical skills with a good problem-solving approach
  • Ability to interpret and follow technical plans 
  • Extremely well organized, thorough, and keen attention to detail
  • Likes the fast-paced and environment of a start-up
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Comfort with a rapidly evolving work environment; with experience in taking the initiative
